The Real Estate Marketing Bomb

Posted by admin | Real Estate | Posted on February 18th, 2009

When Google launched its Google Maps API For several years, it detonated a bomb in the line of the Real Estate space sparked a chain reaction of the ‘mashup’ sites. HousingMaps.com was among the first sites that I can remember watching had this idea and ran with it, a proof of concept site that analyzes data from online classified Juggernaught Craiglist and superimposed on top of Google mapping visual interface.

MyNewPlace is the latest offering in this regard, bringing together a database of over 6 million apartments across the U.S. and allows you to search for your next pad by Zip Code and price, among other variables. CNET News.com reported that its business model is “pay for performance” is likely MyNewPlace will receive a finder fee for owners in search of tenants. Potential renters can get a discount of up to $ 150 for using the site.

First impressions, the site is clean and well designed and compulsory sports Web 2.0 ‘beta’ tag. Individuals are more disappointing, however – the data is clinically well and have seen many ads lacked photos. Of course, this is a new site, but I would have liked to see more interactive options instead: a space for the evaluation of the properties or the views of the current tenant could make the site more “sticky” and valuable to a tenant. Hopefully, these are features that will come in time.

Property managers looking for a new way to advertise their apartments might consider MyNewPlace to complement their publicity efforts, but until the site offers a slightly better experience, hunters are probably the best apartment elsewhere.
